McKeesport Color Guard Programs
Color Guard is a combination of the use of flags, sabers, mock rifles, and other equipment, as well as dance and other interpretive movement. Color guards can be found in high schools, middle schools, universities, and other independent organizations, some of which are related to drum corps.
In the fall the McKeesport Color Guard uses colorful flags, rifles, sabres and dance to bring the music to life as part of the McKeesport Tiger Marching Band. As the visual section of the band these students add color and movement to the music. Their high energy adds an extra dimension to the show on the field.

Make sure to bring water, wear comfy clothes, sneakers and have a positive attitude! 🤩
You may also bring a beach towel or yoga mat for stretching!

Often called The Sport of the Arts, Winter Guard brings music to life through performance in a competitive format. McKeesport Winter Guard performs using dance with various pieces of equipment. While equipment can vary among guards, McKeesport Guard’s main pieces of equipment are flags, rifles and sabres.
The McKeesport Winter Guard programs are open to M.A.S.D. middle and high students:
High School: 9th - 12th grade
Middle School: 6th - 8th grade
McKeesport High School Winter Guard competes annually against other high schools in Western Pennsylvania with Three Rivers Winter Ensemble Association (TRWEA), Tournament Indoor Association (TIA), and nationally with Winter Guard International (WGI).
McKeesport Middle School Winter Guard competes annually against other middle schools in Western Pennsylvania with Three Rivers Winter Ensemble Association (TRWEA) and Tournament Indoor Association (TIA).
Training & rehearsals for both the high school and middle school winter guard programs begin in June.
